Hi there,
Today I am finally happy to announce that we have a Merlin stable release for the usual models:
- DSL-AC68U
- DSL-AX82U/DSL-AX5400
- RT-AX82U

and also for two new entries:
- TUF-AX5400
- ZenWiFi AX (X8) / RT-AX95Q

If you have wishes to see Merlin running on other routers please remember to register your vote here:

As always thanks to all people from the community for the feedback, @RMerlin for the support and for the amazing work and ASUS for collaboration and dev units.
I will be short here, so that's it for now. Feel free to grab it until is hot from

Is it possible to install the addon CakeQOS? I tried to prepare amtm but I can't find the option "Enable jffs" in "Administration/System"
Thank you!

More reading (the main threads/changelogs) is required to know what the differences are. Too many to list in one post.

Happy reading!

I updated my 4x XT8 units and observed the following:

1. Had to add each node manually with ethernet
2. LED turns on randomly when changing certain things in settings. Have to toggle on then off again which fixes
3. Manually changed all nodes to 5GHz backhaul but PHY rate not showing on nodes

This might all be normal but I have never used Asuswrt-Merlin before, so no idea on this.

The following error keeps repeating in the logs:

Apr 3 18:17:14 kernel: protocol 0000 is buggy, dev archer

Any ideas what this is?

Just a heads up that it doesn't look like there's a specific release for DSL-AC68U, even though I'm getting update warnings (accidentally tried RT-AC68U and the update failed). Neither mirrors have the DSL models in their release directories. I'm assuming from the OP that the DSL models are still supported.

The link is in port #1 in this very same thread, posted by @GNUton himself. Read more carefully and don't kill your router with incompatible firmware.
I absolutely have a careful reading problem, but having said that, none of the repos linked from the update warning within the router software itself have the correct firmware. So if you are not on this forum, then you won’t have the GH link.

I just installed it on my ZenWifi XT8; it is working great! Thank you so much. Finally, I can use my router/mesh without any drop issues.

Did you have to add the nodes manually?

Can you see the PHY Rate?

Do you see this in the logs:

Apr 4 07:56:55 kernel: ^[[0;33;41m[ERROR archer] archer_mcast_activate,554: ADD_PORT: WLAN SSID has already been added: egress_port 7, current 0x0002, new 0x0002^[[0m

Apr 4 08:02:52 kernel: protocol 0000 is buggy, dev archer

Just want to work out if I have done something wrong with my setup
