what to do?
have a rt88u + bluecave aimesh
awair only works on 2.4
how to do this

Can't find any information from their website in a quick search.

Does Awair Glow have 5GHz capabilities?

Got this from their CS email

—I believe the issue might be with your network. Our devices can only operate on 2.4GHz this is often an issue with mesh networks. Do you have a way of creating a unique SSID the only has 2.4 GHz or the ability to blacklist/whitelist the device to just 2.4 GHz? the MAC address is the 12 digit code on the bottom.

I would get a cheap RT-N12 D1 to deal with the limitations of this device and connect it as an AP to your network via a wired connection.

Are there better/newer models to choose from for these type of devices? I would be tempted to drop this device if something else was more future-proof.

im aggrieved there isnt a more elegant solution...
apparently my existing router shold just "let" the device be connected on the 2.4
are there any experts on the smartconnect rule out there

so assuming no one has a better alternative than using old router as wired AP
i am just going to return this

OOOkkk found a solution at last--contacted the asus support guys and they suggested setting up a guest netowork on the 2.4g freq... worked like a charm. I gave access to this new ssid to the intranet so my phone can communicate with it

So this is a more elegant solution than adding an older router

Best solution would be to add it somehow to the existing mesh network-- someone needs to tweak the dual band smart connect rule

Thank you L&LD!
