AX86U Pro keeps factory resetting

New Around Here
First time posting here, but I’m wondering, has anyone else gone into the app and have a message pop-up saying “account binding - device model - user name - the device was reset to factory settings please rebind or unbind the device from your account to resume the remote connection”?
I keep getting it sporadically, but at least once a month. The app reconfigure the node after I hit bind. And my mesh network is back in order again. I never consists of two RT – AX86U pros. Connected to a network cable network itself. I don’t always notice a difference before this pops up through the app, but on occasion, I have noticed the node would act up. But other than this, I haven’t had any problems with it. It’s more of just a hassle than a headache Cause it takes like two minutes for it to reconfigure. I’m it’s back up and running again, but I can’t figure out why it’s doing it to begin with.

What specific firmware are you running on the main router and the AiMesh node?
What is your use case that you are binding the router to a social account?
[Wireless Router] How to bind trust account to my ASUS router?(ASUS router app)

If you are running Asus-Merlin firmware, note that the Asus router app is not supported under Asus-Merlin firmware.

Personally I don't use account binding and I don't have the options enabled to allow WAN GUI or Alexa access on an RT-AX86U Pro.

PS: There are some older discussion on account binding here on SNBForums. Here is one such discussion:

I doubt from your description that the router was doing a full factory reset. Maybe just the binding was reset. However, we feel that some of the Asus settings are not recommended such as account binding and remote connection.

First, make sure your router and node firmware are up to date. It should be 3.0.0.6.102_34349
A factory reset is recommended. Remove the AiMesh node from the system. Doing this will reset it. Do a factory reset of the router and reconfigure it manually. This can be done from the Asus app, a browser on a computer is preferred, but do not use any saved settings. Add the AiMesh node back to the system. Do not enable remote access, a security risk, or account binding.
This will take a few minutes but is worth removing any security threat.

Both routers are running Firmware version : 3.0.0.6.102_34349

I did the binding so the routers would be tied to my Asus account and make it easier to find the specs and warranty information.

That’s all. But I’m not too concerned with the binding. I’m concerned with it saying that the router reset itself and because it reset itself it’s saying to bind it to the account.

I don’t see the binding part being an issue. I can turn off the binding, but what’s gonna keep the router from resetting itself?

I removed the binding. The rest will have to wait till tonight. I have some afternoon errands to run.

Why do you think that’s it’s not fully resetting itself and only the binding is being reset?

Because you would have to change a lot more settings than just bind. With a factory reset it is like a new router. The SSID's, user name/password and other custom settings would have to be redone. Your original post makes it sound as if bind is all you have to do.
F.W.I.W - there have been some attacks on Asus routers that had remote management enabled. You have the current Asus firmware so that risk is minimal but it is still a good idea to not enable remote management. If you want to check your router away from home, set up a VPN (Instant Guard works well from a phone or tablet) to connect to the router. Then you can use the Asus app or a web browser to manage the router/mesh.
