Hello,
I've browsed around a bit and think I am narrowing in on solutions but need a bit of help if anyone has some time.
I am starting to add IoT devices in my house and would like to have a separate network to my home network than I can access from my home network, ie talk to an IP address on the IoT network, but not allow communication back out. It would also be great to be able to either block the entire IoT vlan from accessing the internet or block specific devices attached.
I have 3 routers lying around, none of which support any 3rd party firmware and two of which aren't mine (My Republic routers) so I don't want to modify them.
I'd like to know if it would work to have 1 router attached to the internet, then directly to a switch, which goes to the last 2 routers. I think that is the correct way to use a switch?
Or am I better off buying a router (was looking at R7800) and using OpenWRT to setup VLAN.
Hopefully I'm on the right track..any help is appreciated!
