Best way to bridge a single wire to wireless?

My wireless signal across the house is terrible. I have a single CAT5 that runs across the house. I was looking for a wired to wireless bridge, where it would almost act as a switch. I know I can buy a cheap router and basically just disable the DHCP server on the secondary side, and plug it into a numbered port on the primary side as well as the secondary side. This would turn the secondary router into almost a wired/wireless switch. Is that the best bet?

My primary router is a RT-N16.
