Best WIFI NIC to use for RT-N66U ?

Hi all,

In today's growing 802.11AC market, what's the best WIFI NIC to use for these new crop of routers below? I am running Windows 7 and 8.

I see that Higgins seems to prefer the ASUS PCE-66U AC1750 PCIe adapter. Is this the best NIC in terms of speed and latency? And is there another version of this which is USB or PCMCIA?

Routers:

ASUS RT-N66U

NETGEAR AC 1750

WIFI NIC:
ASUS PCE-66U AC1750 PCIe adapter

From what I have seen, that is the current best available.

Only other solution is to get a AC router such as the netgear r6300 and use it in bridge mode.

If you do not need the full AC speed yet, then I highly recommend that you wait a while longer for more (faster and better) wifi adapters to come out, not only will prices go down, you will get better results.

PS when it comes to things like sending files over the network, the single stream benchmarks are the only ones that apply if you want to get a better idea of your performance.

The selection of the ASUS PCE-AC66 was out if necessity. It is NOT a preference, nor is it an endorsement.

There is no other 3x3 802.11a/b/g/n/ac adapter available that will provide maximum link rates for all those standards.

I could not use a router in bridge mode or dedicated wireless bridge because they would not have provided RSSI data to the IxChariot test tool.

It is unlikely that there will be 3x3 adapters produced. The space available is just too small.

So, I am hearing you say.. get the ASUS PCE-AC66 since there will probubly not be another 3x3 client card... I can do that...

that is not what I am saying. If you are connecting a desktop, you also can use 3x3 bridges or routers in bridge mode.

PCI-e would be best, second best at the moment for 801.11ac clients would be a GIGe adapter.

Don't waste time with USB
