New Around Here
There are several BF deals for Netgear routers. I have summarized them below:

Staples $130. X4S R7800. AC 2600
Costco $150. X6S R7900.AC 3000
Best Buy $160. X6. R8000. AC 3200
Newegg $200. X8 R8500. AC 5300

I am in a medium sized house (1600 Sq Ft). I have 3 Amazon fire sticks/TVs and 2-3 computers.

Anyone have feedback on these choices?

The R7800 generally gets good reviews and feedback from its users.

Despite the lower model number the R7800 is actually more advanced chipset and CPU wise (ie better VPN performance). It has better 5Ghz range/performance than the rest on the list.

Looking to pickup the R7800 due to its Black Friday price instead of the AC86U.

How is the stock FW on the R7800?
And how is the openVPN performance of it?

Stock firmware is a bit simplistic compared to Asus and VPN performance is pretty decent. Been a while since I used VPN though.

Voxel releases custom firmware based on stock with package updates, optimizations and some extra features, it’s pretty good, I would use that.
