Buffalo Cloudstor vs others?

I understand the basics of a "cloud" but how does the Buffalo Cloudstor such as WV2.0/1D differ from any other NAS that can be accessed from the internet?

Anyone have experience with this version vs other NAS' such as Synology or QnAP? Seems the latter two are very expensive but I am sure they are good.

Seems the the Cloudstor's are just priced very nicely and appear to be feature rich. I also am not sure of the difference between these and the Buffalo Linkstation Pro LS-VL?

Sorry for all the questions I am new to this and don't want to spend this much money and choose the wrong one.

Very good question and probably deserves an article to fully describe it.

The basic difference is ease of access. "Cloud" NASes generally don't require you to have to mess with opening router ports or dynamic DNS to access your files from the Internet.

Most NASes that provide remote access, do require you to mess with things like that, unless they provide a hosted gateway service.

But there are exceptions to that, too.

Which would you recommend? Why is the V series, which isn't cloud based be the same price as the cloud based one when this one is newer and comes with 2TB?!

I would like to get a NAS and a great deal just came along on the Cloudstor CS-WX2.0/1D 2TB.



I don't really care about the pogoplug stuff but I just want something that can sit on my network and serve HD streams to 2 (sometimes 3) different TVs. All I read about this is that it is slow. Would it be to slow for my needs?
