BUG: AsusWRT Merlin 378.52 issue save settings

colombeen

New Around Here
when you use the save settings option on the "Restore/Save/Upload Setting" page from administration there is an issue with the hostname for the DDNS settings.

instead of the regular hostname you set up before, now there is a random string.

this only happens when you save your settings to a cfg file.

Router : Asus RT-AC87U
FW : 378.52_0

Just noticed this on my device as well (RT-N66U)

My DDNS hostname changed to a string of around 500 characters, it might be a bit hard to remember that. :)

Every time you save your settings, the DDNS hostname changes.

This happen to me too on RT-AC87U with 378.52. After I save setting in the Administration - Restore/Save/Upload Setting page the DDNS Host Name that I have set before hand change to a long string of random text.

Same issue with ASUS firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.4608 and above…

As far as I know there is zero reason to save your DDNS name and reupload it. Just go to the WAN page or use aidisk and enter the same DDNS name that you used before

totally don't get the reasoning.

so, i save the settings to a cfg file, and the hostname now turns into a random string, and my actual hostname will never get registered again with whatever the DDNS service i'm using, and that's OK...?

also, after restore settings, the hostname now turns into "Key in the name". don't think it's OK either.

Are you using Asus' DDNS service?
