Can I use a DIR655 as a switch to a new RT-AC66U setup?

Just testing a new RT-AC66U in the home environment - intended to replace an aging - but still very good DIR-655.

Q: Can I use this oldtimer as an access point for my upstairs level by simply plugging in a LAN cable from the wall - whose other end plugs directly into the RT-AC66U downstairs.

My intent is to use this as 3 more GB LAN ports and of course to offer better 2.4ghz wireless coverage upstairs.

Can it be done?

Appreciate an update.

Sonic.

You can do what you want. It is not complicated.

Just read the tutorial on this site on how to do it. Just a few settings you need to change on the old router to convert it to an AP.
