Can VPN settings be transferred between official and Merlin firmware

If moving from official firmware to Merlin (or the other way round for that matter), can WireGuard VPN server settings on the router and its associated VPN clients be transferred across or does everything have to be set up from scratch again? I suspect the latter, but it would be useful to know.

All are stored as nvram variables so if they are not wiped during the firmware switch the server (and clients) should still be there. If not you could always store all variables to a file before the switch and then update them manually, but its alittle tedious:

A script to import/export the config would be nice to have.
