Cannot Connect to Router WiFi Directly but is OK with Ubuquity Wired Wireless AP's

Hello!

I have a strange problem here ...

I have two AXE 11000 units connected in mesh mode. One (a Pro model) is the main router and the other is a node (base model).

Both use the latest Merlin firmware.

I cannot connect directly to either the 2.4 or 5.8 networks over wifi. I simply get the message "cannot connect to this network".

The various AP's that I have connected to the network have wifi that works perfectly on 2.4 and 5.8.

No problem over the LAN cables.

Sometimes, after about five minutes or so the wifi connects for a minute or so and then it gets dropped by the computers and I have to try to log on again.

then again "cannot connect to this network".

Any ideas ... I'm stumped!

There is no AXE11000 Pro model. There is GT-AX11000 Pro and in combination with GT-AXE11000 the result may be reserved 5GHz radio for wireless backhaul. GT-AXE11000 has a single 5GHz radio. Various other APs connected to the network? Where the clients are actually trying to connect to?

I see in your older posts you have GT-AXE16000. Perhaps this is the correct model of your main router?

Thank you everyone for your helpful suggestions. I rechecked DNS settings - fine. Tried different security settings - fine. Still cannot get it to work properly!

In the end I had to give up on the MESH network - I could not solve the problems. So I started from scratch. and used the AX1100 pro as my main router and the AX1100 as an access point. Then it got weirder ....

The access point is in another building and works fine over wire. On wifi not so. I can access NOW the 5ghz network - it connects no problem high speed etc. However 2.4gh connects but "no internet" - and nothing I do can seems to resolve this. BTW the 6ghz network also works.

Even more strange - on the main router (Pro) that is directly connect to the Starlink router (set in bypass mode) - there are no broadcast wifi SSID's (2.4 or 5.8) at all - even though the router interface tells me they are transmitting and set to show!

What is also odd is that they system worked fine over ALL wifi on both units before I reset the routers and swapped the AX1100 for the AX1100 pro as my main router connected to the SL
router!

I'm beginning to wonder if I have an intermittent hardware issue as SOMETIMES though very rarely, it DOES work! Perhaps it is a DNS issue but the setting (Cloudflare) is fine and of course it's working fine over wire and 5ghz.

It is all very frustrating!! Any ideas??

Eureka ... I made some progress!

After I wrote the reply above it occurred to me to check that the SL router was still in bypass mode. IT WAS NOT.

Now what's interesting is that it was never touched or changed (other than restarts). It seems that it is able to change its config without my input - perhaps after an auto software update or when no other router is observed. (This I confirmed with some research). This was clearly causing most of the problems (gateway/dns conflicts perhaps?).

So now all is good EXCEPT that there is still no internet on the 2.4 band on the AP router!

So .... looking into that .....
