Cannot get ASUS DSL-N14U to Work AiDisk

New Around Here
Hi there,

I am a new user of ASUS n14u, i got this router because my cable modem doesn't have a good wifi coverage,so i disabled wifi on my cable modem and connected asus and cable modem through lan cable. The cable modem is on bridge mode and they seem to get along quite well.

so far so good, the internet works just fine, i can both reach the admin pages of cable modem192.168.0.1 and asus router page 192.168.1.1 but i cannot get AiDisk application to work.

it keeps saying INVALID IP when i try to register asuscomm.com servers for my ddns, i enabled web access and it keeps giving that message,

If we cannot find a solution to this ddns problem, i could live with using my ip address as a domain adress (my internet service provider gives static ip for free), but i don't know how to configure my network settings to reach my files on usb which is connected to asus. any ideas?

thanks a lot!

okay, now as i started going deeper, i realized that i need to do some sort of "port forwarding", but at this moment i am not sure if i have to do it on my cable modem or asus router. i don't care about ddns or getting an easy-to-remember adress for my modem, i can live without it and i can use bare ip address to reach my files,

and the ip settings look quite confusing, the reason why i am pushing this too hard is that i paid a lot of money (my budget is quite tight) and i want to use aidisk application so badly, hope somebody can help

even asus customer care didn't help :(

Is the cable modem really in bridge mode, it doesn't sound like it? Check your WAN IP address in the Asus' web interface. If it's something beginning with 192.168. or 10. then the modem isn't in bridge mode.

EDIT: Just realised that you've got a DSL-N14U so you'll have an ADSL modem not a cable modem. Sorry, I don't know much about putting ADSL modems into bridge mode.

Colin, my friend, thank YOU! you must be thinking, i didn't do anything why is he thanking me?!

well you did help me, i thought i enabled bridge mode on my cable modem, but apparently i didn't, i rechecked it and switched to bridge mode, and now i can use aidisk without a problem!

the morale of the story, even the littlest piece of information can change someone else's life! thanks a lot! even asus customer care didnt think of it as a solution ;)

Ha. You're welcome. It's always better to have an easy solution rather than a complicated one.:D
