Cannot use MSG command over VPN

Hi.

I have a desktop running XP Pro and a laptop running Vista Business. I'm trying to msg the Vista laptop over the VPN but I get a message back saying the laptop "does not exist or is disconnected". I get this message even though the VPN connection works fine and I can view the laptop files over the connection.

Any ideas on where to start checking?

Are you using the IP address of the remote machine?
