Broadcom got ahead of itself and the Wi-Fi industry today with its announcement of eight AP devices that support the draft 802.11ax standard in the 6 GHz band, which has recently been dubbed Wi-Fi 6E by the Wi-Fi Alliance.

The FCC has not yet released the the new spectrum for unlicensed use. If approved, the new band will add fourteen 80 MHz wide or seven 160 MHz wide Wi-Fi channels. The comments period for the FCC Rulemaking proposal ends on January 24.

The new devices include:

  • BCM43693 -- 3x3 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6E SoC with 80-MHz Channel Support
  • BCM43692 -- 2x2 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6E SoC with 80-MHz Channel Support
  • BCM47622 -- Dual 2x2 Wi-Fi 6E SoC with ARM Processor
Residential:
  • BCM43684 -- 4x4 Wi-Fi 6E SoC with 160-MHz Channel Support
  • BCM6710 -- 3x3 Wi-Fi 6E SoC with 80-MHz Channel Support
  • BCM6705 -- 2x2 Wi-Fi 6E SoC with 80-MHz Channel Support
