Client Status using Telnet

Hi,

Is it possible to obtain the Client Status list using telnet like in this link:
Detecting WiFi clients on TP-LINK routers using Python and telnetlib

If possible, how precise is it on representing the devices (upon refresh does it immediately reflect when a device connects or disconnects)?

"wl assoclist": retrieve associated MAC addr
"cat /tmp/var/lib/misc/dnsmasq.leases": obtain DHCP leases

so you can use assoclist to find ip/hostnames on leases.

Has anyone used this info as a presence indicator? Would like to use it on a home automation project...

Another question: if I open a telnet session and continuously use "wl assoclist" (let's say, each 10 seconds) would it compromise router performance or stability?
