COAX Traffic LED is off

New Around Here
Hi,
I'm trying to add Netgear MCA1001 adapters to my network and the COAX Traffic LED is not lighting up. I am still able to get data from the cable modem to the Airport Express (see attachment) but again the COAX light isn't working.

I have tried restarting and resetting the adapters, and I've also tried both units with similar results. I moved the cable modem and MOCA adapter to the front of the house closer to the cable drop, thinking that perhaps it had something to do with distance (probably about 100feet)- same results.

My cabling is brand new (comcast installed new lines last week). I didn't find any amplifiers so I think that the problem has to do with the splitters and cable tap that the installer is using.

My guess is that I need to upgrade the splitters to a higher rating, but I'm not sure what to do about that cable tap. Am I on the right track? What should I do about that Tap?

Wiring diagram attached.

BTW, thanks for this great forum. I had no idea where to begin and reading through the threads has been very educational.

I see only one MoCA adapter in the diagram. Where is the second one?

Your splitters need to pass signals up to 2 GHz.

Working Now

I switched the splitters to 2GHz and it's working fine now.

One thing that I found confusing, is when I got to Radio Shack all the 2GHz splitters said "satellite" on them. I asked the clerk about this and he said that it wouldn't work with Cable. Radio Shack didn't have any 2Ghz splitters that said cable on them so I went to another store thinking that perhaps they didn't carry them there. Same deal at the second store- 2GHz splitters all explicit on Satellite label. I decided that I would take a chance to see if it would work and it does so I'm happy.

I believe the issue is that a cable splitter won't work for satellite but a satellite will work for cable?

Thanks for all the help. This is a great resource.

The salespeople were misinformed. The splitters are labeled "satellite" for ease of identification.
