Compatibility with ASUS Router Mobile App

Hi All,

Newbie here.
Are there any known compatibility issues with the ASUS Router Mobile App (specifically the iOS version)?
I'd like to know before I flash the latest stable build to my RT-AC66.

Working, but i didn't know, this app or router bug: in the "Connection" screen presents long time ago disconnected links (8hr ago was shutdown PC, for example). And shows "statistics" for this disconnected link

The Asus router app is not compatible with Merlin's firmware, and you get a notification in the app to say your router is not supported. That said, a lot of the features will work. Best to regard anything that works on the app as a bonus, but don't complain when certain features don't work.

App working very well with my N66R on 380.62_1 on both IOS and Android.

Thats not correct. In actual state RMerlin firmware is full compatible in the app. Sometimes there are updates of the app from Asus which also breaks compatibility with the stock firmware.


But after in-depth testing of the app i find it pretty useless, but thats just my own opinion.

When the app first cane out it didn't work for me so I contacted the developer who told me it hadn't been tested with Merlin's firmware and they couldn't guarantee it would work with it; the final word was "....So please use official firmware for the best performance and compatibility."

Having said that, nowadays most of the features do work on my RT-AC68U. Nevertheless, the notification area of the app reports:

"Your router is not supported by the ASUS router app currently."

That said, I also find I have no use for the app and keep meaning to delete it in accordance with Rule no 3 of Krebs' 3 rules for online safety:

Thanks folks for the feedback. I just use the app to provision guest networks and send credentials to the guest.

That's good to know. And what about Devices at the bottom of the screen; is that working too?

Yes - All functions (including Devices) of the App are functioning correctly.

As long they don't have some kind of picky version check, everything should work - all the backend code in the web server is left unchanged in my firmware.

Asus Router Mobile app for the iPhone had an update today, and I can no longer connect to my router. My router now shows up as 'Unknown', and the screen graphics are now in Chinese. Was working before the app update.

Any ideas? Here's some screen prints.

Roll back to the previous working version and ask the vendor what went wrong.

This is an Asus App. @RMerlin doesn't support the app or promise it will work with his firmware. It should however work as the code is locked by Asus and @RMerlin has no access to it.
