Hello

If I connect [router 1 lan port] to [router 2 wan port], how would I set it up so I can see all the clients as if they were on the same network?

For example, I would want to be able to see 192.168.1.2 on router 1 from 192.168.2.2 on router 2 and vice versa.

Many thanks

It depends on what you mean by "see". To guarantee that everything will work transparently you'd have to have them all on the same subnet, which means changing router 2 into an access point.

Thanks for the reply.
I have now managed to achieve what I wanted to do with static routing.

Just in case it helps others here is what I did:

Router A:
  • Router A LAN (Static IP: 192.168.1.3) is Connected to router B WAN (.
  • Logged onto router A > LAN > Route
  • Enabled static Route Radio Button
  • Entered Network IP: 192.168.2.0
  • Entered Network Mask: 255.255.255.0
  • Entered Gateway: 192.168.1.3
  • Entered Metric: 1
  • Select Interface: LAN
  • Then Add and Apply
Router B:
  • Logged onto router A > LAN > LAN IP
  • Entered IP Address: 192.168.2.1
  • Entered Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
  • Clicked the Route Tab
  • Enabled static Route Radio Button
  • Entered Network IP: 192.168.1.0
  • Entered Network Mask: 255.255.255.0
  • Entered Gateway: 192.168.2.1
  • Entered Metric: 1
  • Select Interface: LAN
  • Then Add and Apply
If accessing Router B’s Interface you need to Enable Web Access from WAN under administration > System

Glad you got it to work.

A couple of observations/limitations to be aware of;

Router B doesn't need a static route to Router A because the default route should go there already.
Unsolicited traffic from Network A to Network B will be blocked by Router B's firewall if it is left on.
Services that rely on broadcast traffic (NetBIOS browsing, DLNA, etc.) won't work across subnets.
The firewall on Windows PC's (that are not part of a domain) will block unsolicited incoming traffic from other subnets.
