DDNS hanging my RT-AC86U router.

When I log into my RT-AC86U I see the following on the Router's opening page (Network Map):

Internet status:
Connected
WAN IP: 65.131.231.160
DDNS: Wait a while for verifying...

I did not consciously enable/activate DDNS so I don't know where this came from. (I admit I might have "fat fingered" something!)

The bigger problem is that I cannot scroll that page to get to any of the left-side menu choices that are not already on the screen. For example I can't get to anything allowing me to disable DDNS (assuming that's what I need to do). What do I do now?

I am using Merlin firmware.

I have tried rebooting the router. I also tried using the phone app and unbinding, whatever that does. I am not at all familiar with this area.

On ASUSWRT and not using DDNS:

The DDNS: GO link page:

I would get proper access to the router webUI and investigate its WAN - DDNS setting.

Well, the problem seems to have corrected itself!

My Network Map page suddenly shows me the "DDNS: GO" link and when I went there it said:

(Not exactly the same as yours, but it seems to do the job.) I am afraid to touch it!

I can also scroll around to my heart's content!

I really don't know what happened, but all seems well now.

Do you think there is something else I should do?

Keep an eye on it... weird things can start happening when an AC86U starts burning out... three died on me.

Thanks. I plan to switch to an AX86U. I tried to replace it earlier but could not get it to connect to my Brightspeed fiber ONT so I returned it to Amazon. The WAN light on the router was red. After some fiddling I got it to turn green but still could not get to the Internet. Since that time Brightspeed replaced my ONT with a newer model (higher model number). Perhaps trying an AX86U again will work.

Most likely because your new router wasn't registered to your ISP network. For this to happen you have to wait for WAN IP release or call the ISP and tell them you are replacing the router. The needed WAN configuration with PPPoE credentials and eventually VLAN tagging has to be in place. The same procedure applies for any new router. Call your ISP for details. You have returned the new router for no reason.

I'll check into it but I don't remember having to do that in the past. I'll call the ISP tomorrow and ask.
