My hosts that are using a 'filter', by setting them to use opendns rather than the set WAN page DNS, appear to ignore the HOSTS file.

Besides that, the dns filter is very nice.

If you are talking about the router's hosts file, that's normal. DNSFilter totally bypasses dnsmasq (which is the one using the hosts file when resolving client queries).
