Is there a setting Im missing that I need to enable to allow me to connect to computers via DNS instead of IP? I have a 68U, even the stock non merlin build seems to have the same limitation.

Name resolution works fine out of the box. Just make sure your clients all use the router both for DHCP and DNS purposes.
