DNS Poisoning (Adblock) lists

There are numerous lists to block ads such as:

  1. http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.txt
  2. http://someonewhocares.org/hosts/zero/hosts
  3. http://pgl.yoyo.org/adservers/serve...tdate[year]=&mimetype=plaintext&useip=0.0.0.0

I am interested a list that would block ads but also prevent resolving to IP addresses that serve up malware, such as:

MALWARE SITE EXAMPLE: http://xxxxxxx.rsc.cdn dot org

Is there a good resource that lists sources that can generate a list of known malware servers similar to the ones enumerated above?

I 'd really like to hear from you if you use a list and any thought process behind using it.

Thank you

Untangle may do what you want. You can run it as a transparent bridge to your current router or run it as a router. They have a free version. I like the 64 bit free version. I am sure the paid version is better but the free version is nice. It is a set and forget it.

I suspect such a list would change on a daily basis, and might be a fairly long list of hosts. You'd be better using a nameserver that handles this, such as OpenDNS.

Untangle would probably be a manual process. Automated would be better for your lists. Untangle does have a good AD blocker.

PS
What about locking down your router to only your DNS servers? Block all other DNS requests so no foreign DNS servers are allowed.

another way would be to use an antivirus to detect scripts. The Addresses may change daily but the virus wont and would use the same signatures or functions.
