Drive compatibility policies FAQs for Synology storage systems starting from 2025 (DSM 7.3 and above)

Interesting. Even though they "require" Synology drives the only incompatible drive listed for my DS220+ is a Seagate HDD. SInce Westarn Digital HDD's are "Not Listed" they must be OK to use? I have only had one WD Red HDD fail over the years and that was an old drive that was scheduled to be replaced anyway.

Another confusing policy document from Synology...

Edit: I just got an email from Synology with a video that mentions "greatly relaxed drive requirements." Giving in to customer preferences? Not a bad thing...
