DSL modem Merlin compatible with VDSL2 profile 35b

Hi,
I'm a complete newbie with ASUS hardware. I need to buy a new modem and I hope, with your help, to find one compatible with Merlin (if exist ;-)
E.g. DSL-AC88U for what I read in this past post it wasn't supported nor i found it in the actual HCL.
Can anyone suggest me which is and if exist such device?
Merlin is intended to be suitable only for routers?

No Asus router with built in DSL modem is Merlin compatible.
Buy a Asus Router and use a separate modem in bridge mode.
