E4200 - Not getting full 100 mbit through?

Kimso

New Around Here
Hi guys!

I've just upgraded my home connection to a 100 / 100 mbit, and i'm having some problems getting full speed with my Linksys E4200 Version 1.

If i connect directly to my modem im getting close to the speed that i'm supposed to, but with the Linksys in between i'm getting 100 down but 40-50 mbit at top upload.

Why does this happen? I've upgraded firmware to the newest and i have shutted off the QoS in the router. I've also tried with 2 different computers, both with the same issue, so clearly the problem is in the router.

I'm of course using a wired connection.

Any tips and hints here? I'm not that into networking anymore and could really need som help, and a norwegian friend of mine linked me here :)

Any tips? And btw, should i try the DD-WRT firmware?

Thanx! :)

Find The Problem

You need to determine if the problem is on the LAN side or the WAN.

Install LAN Speedtest on one of your PCs then plug that PC and another PC into LAN ports on your router. See what your file read write speeds are.

If possible borrow another router and repeat the test.

You probably will get a file write speed of significantly less than 100Mbps on both but what you are looking for is significant difference in speeds between your router and the borrowed router.

If the speeds differ particularly if your router is slowest than it might be the problem. Very few setting should have any impact on the switch portion of the router.

After testing on the LAN try using the borrowed router to see if you get the slower uploads.

If all things are basically equal then it might be a slow PC.
