ea-n66 needs some work
I posted this firmware cause this device is badly in need of some attention. I searched the forum to figure out the best way to set up this device in repeater mode.
After multiple hours of troubleshooting I found that I was only able to achieve a solid connect using the 2.4G signal after:
*Changing the SSID to something different than what my RT-N66U was broadcasting.
*Although it shows 1 mac address on the device and in the software, my RT-N66U was picking up a mac address that was different by +1 digit on the last octet.
*Assigning it a static IPs to both of it mac address made it better after a reboot/power loss situation.
-------------------------Still some strange behaviors---------------
*the RT-N66U shows multiple instances of the ea-n66 in network map
*wireless mode on the repeater is unable to be changed. (not sure if this is a bad thing)
*No mention of the range of TX power?
* Doesn't seem to recognize an 'N' connection when setting up.
* Had to use my laptop to setup.
*2 devices streaming 2 different sling players (roku & tablet) made the tablet video quality very poor, roku was good.
*RT-N66U Settings = 80mw TX, hidden SSID, firmware *5517, pretty much default.
*Environment= 1500sf 1 level house.
