Recently my main router AC5300 has encountered an issue.

I am using comcast. Out of sudden starting on Wed, the internet is not connectable.

If I login to the router, i can see it is able to obtain a WAN IP. The led light for internet is normal. I also checked my modem, which is netgear, all lights are green.

I have done the following, but no success
asked the comcast to send my modem refresh signals, couple times.
restarted my router many times.
restored the router settting to default
upgrade the router firmware to the most recent one 384.xx.
I can ping comcast dns 75.75.75.75, but can't ping google dns server 8.8.8.8

May I know what could be the problem?

Sorry if this sounds way to basic but you didn't mention if you ever actually rebooted the modem.

What are your current dns settings and what pages do you use to configure dns? Do you use dnscrypt?
 
TBH this sounds like an upstream problem with your ISP's network. Have you asked Comcast to investigate, what did they say?

They said everything looks OK, and my modem is online as seen from their side.

What happens when you main line the connection past the router to the modem? Can you ping 8.8.8.8 then?
 
If you can ping googles 8.8.8.8 with a computer directly connected to the modem then I would look at resetting the router to factory defaults again.
 
Is your modem also a router by chance?
 
Finally it is working now, after multiple reset and reboot!

Thank you everyone. It is my first time to experience this after having been using merlin firmware for 5+ years.
