Enable RT-N56U DHCP server in AP mode

Does anyone know how to enable the DHCP server when using AP mode?

The DHCP options are not available in the gui after changing operation mode. Is there a way to re enable?

Just curious why you'd want to do that? Normally, there's only one DHCP server on a home network, and that would be the one in your main router, not your AP. That's why you turn off DHCP in an AP...

Can you please describe what you're trying to accomplish?

My main router is limited to 10 DHCP reservations so I would prefer to use the DHCP server in the RT-N56U

Can you swap the roles? Make the N56U the main, and the other the AP?

My main router is a belkin dsl/voip/wifi router provided by my isp. The wireless is slow, weak and unstable so I added the n56U attached as an access point. Wireless is now fast and reliable.

I dont think I can swap the roles as the Asus cant perform the DSL to LAN routing function. Perhaps I could change operation of the Asus to router mode, but I would expect this to affect performance with both devices routing and I think also both having to do NAT.

If you could put your DSL modem/voip/wifi all-in-one into bridge mode (the router part), then you could use the rt-n56u as your main router.

I think the only bridging option I have on the Belkin is to change the ATM VC from PPPoE to 1483 Bridging. However this disables all advanced features such as VoIP, Firewall, and QoS etc. No problem with letting the Asus handle the PPPoE , firewall and QoS, but I need VoIP.

I am currently downloading Padavan's source to have a go at enabling DHCP in AP mode, although I expect it will take more effort than I am willing to put in.
