I am interested in setting up a nas purely for sharing files across the network for my pcs to use.
So i do not need most of the features of a shop bought nas and am looking for fast speeds.

So I managed to find this device.
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Edge...-10-DAS-Enclosure-via-eSATA-(IO-card-Included)

Allows 5 external sata hard drives to be connected via one esata port.

And it is incredibly cheap :)

However, getting it on the network is another matter.
Does anyone know a way of connecting an esata based device like this easily and portably (I will be moving the device between houses - hence why I decided against building my own nas) .?

Plug it into any device with a Sata or eSATA interface (not sure if they are compatible or not) and then share it via SMB.

Maybe your question is not detailed enough?

I assume you need a small device with ethernet on one side and eSATA on the other. Sorry I dont know any such devices.

Cheers Brian
