Hi

I have a Netgear extender connected to the AC88U running latest merlin. The problem is that the 2.4 band on the extender doesn't connect to the Router. 5GHZ band works fine.

Any extra debug I can turn on? only error in the log is this:

What channel and bandwidth are you using for 2.4GHZ on the Asus?
What is the model number of the Netgear?

using auto on the asus. I can connect no problem to the asus SSID. The netegar use the same channel and password as the main SSID. it is netger ex6100

What is the actual channel and width in use? If it's channel 12 or 13 that could be the problem. Look at System Log > Wireless Log.

it seems to be channel 4. More than likely is an issue with the extender, I guess there is no way to enable more debug in the asus log?

Make sure that the Asus is set to use 20MHz not 40MHz on the 2.4GHz band.

Not that I'm aware of. What about on the Netgear, any logs there?

FWIW... I had this same issue with a AC88U router. I returned it for a AC3100(Only one BB had) and all is fine.

what model number was the extender? and was the 5ghz band working for you?

I have an Netgear EX6100(AC750) extender. Yes the 5Ghz band was working on the extender but only when the router wasn't acting up. you may want to Try turning off B/G Protection on 2.4Ghz on the router. That worked for me when I first set it up but over time the router wifi became increasingly unstable and reverted back to no 2.4ghz at all.

very strange the extender shows in the list of devices in network map but
if I ping I get no response

Pinging 192.168.1.250 with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.

make sure the prtected frames is turned off and have you set lan ports to use 5ghz band? Also is the extender on the latest firmware.
