Firmware mismatch

New Around Here
Does anyone have any idea as to what I should do?

If you can see from the pictures, the Asus website for my RT-AC1900p is indicating firmware Version 3.0.0.4.384.20624, meanwhile back at the ranch my RT-AC1900p is indicating 3.0.0.4.384.20648?

The same goes for my RT-AC68U. Website indicates Version 3.0.0.4.384.20624 and on the router it shows Version 3.0.0.4.384.20467?

There has been some security fixes so I want to make sure I’m not vulnerable?

When I logged in today it showed a firmware upgrade is available but 3.0.0.4.384.20467 is the current version it gave me? I downloaded and manually upgraded with Version 3.0.0.4.384.20624 and it still indicates the older version.

It also indicates my firmware is current.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Zane

The router tends to indicate newer firmware available before same is posted on the ASUS Support website.

If you select the newer firmware link in the router, it should pop-up release notes.

You can decide whether or not you want to upgrade now from within the router interface.

Thanks for the quick reply. Much appreciated, and your comment sounds reasonable for the RT-AC1900p; to be honest I’m not really worried about having a higher version of firmware. It’s more my RT-AC68U that I’m concerned about as it’s showing an older firmware, whereas ASUS website is indicating a higher version. Hence why I’m concerned about security - seeing as the newer firmware version has security exploit patches.

I tried downloading and manually installing the newer Version 3.0.0.4.384.20624 and the router went through the steps of installing and rebooting, but is still showing Version 3.0.0.4.384.20467 on my router?

Weird right?

Try again after rebooting the router, also ensuring there's no USB disk plugged in. Firmware updates can fail if the router is too low on free RAM, a reboot before flashing will take care of that.

Thank you RMerlin. I’ll give it a go.

Seems weird, but weird things do happen with router firmware.

Perhaps try again using the router Upgrade button. Then consider a factory default reset and reconfiguration from scratch, if weirdness persists.

In case anyone else in the future is looking for an answer to this. I went on the ASUS Canada website (seeing as I live in Canada) and lo-and-behold the firmware is showing the same firmware as my router. I guess they role out firmwares to different countries separately.

I believe initially I went to Asus.com as opposed to Asus.ca

Thank you all for your comments either way.

By the way RMerlin - love the merlin software. Unfortunately had to go back to stock because aimesh is not supported. Keep up the great work though.

Cheers,

Zane
