From U-Verse to Suddenlink cable. Should I reset?

Hi,

I went from a 24 Mbps U-Verse connection to 50 Mbps cable today. The only trouble I am about to hook up my RT-N66U with the latest Merlin installed. Should I reset the router completely before I use it with my new connection or could I just hook it up run through the Internet setup? There's no other changes to my network.

Normally you shouldn't have to do a reset of your router or change the settings when switching internet providers as long as you didn't have the router in bridge mode. Just power cycle the router and the cable modem if you need to. The router should auto detect the new connection from your modem.

However you will probably want to do a full 5-10 second hard button reset of the router when changing from the previous stock Asus firmware to newer firmware like Merlin's or to the latest stock Asus .374 version. Also don't reapply your old firmware settings from a backup after the reset. Just manually reconfigure your settings.
