FTP from WAN not working

I've got a BE96U and I've had an FTP server setup for quite some time. I know it's worked from the WAN in the past. I toggle it on and off as needed to share things like pictures with some friends. Over the weekend we all got together so I gathered all the photos, uploaded them to my drive on my router and enabled the FTP server. I tested it with Filezilla using the local IP of the router and everything looked good.

My friend tried to connect from his end using my DDNS address, also FileZilla, and he said the connection was refused. Sure enough, when I tried the DDNS address on my LAN instead of the local IP it failed.

Any thoughts?

OK, I've done some more digging and just now noticed that the IP being returned in resolving the DDNS name is NOT the actual WAN IP as shown on the ASUS Network Map main page.

THIS is weird
