I currently have 1Gbps serice and my ISP is offering 3gbps for $10 more. I am mixed up about the 2.5G port, I currently use it as my WAN as the system offers 2.5 or 1 but if I use it as WAN wth 2.5, then the LAN ports are only 1gpbs. So if I want to enjoy 2.5 g speed to my PC with a 2.5gbps card., how do I do that
On the other hands if I connect 2.5gbps to the regular WAN port, its only set to 1gbps so whats the point of the 2.5g port?
Or am I completely mistaken here

No you're not mistaken. With only one 2.5GbE port you can only ever achieve a maximum throughput of 1Gbps to a single wired client. However, with the WAN at 2.5Gbps you could get up to 2.5Gbps aggregate throughput to multiple clients, wired and wireless. Theoretically you could achieve up to 2.5Gbps to a single wireless client (if the client is capable), but that's unlikely in the real world.

Thank you, so no real point pratically unless I buy router ( newer asus ) with 10G, 2.5G WAN/LANS

I have had no luck using the 2.5Gbps port on the WAN side. Only local LAN devices ever connect, like my desktop with a 2.5 Gbps NIC. What am I doing wrong? I have Comcast 2.5 service. Did I just answer my own question?

Have you correctly configured the router GUI (WAN > Dual WAN > Primary WAN) to use the 2.5Gb port as a WAN port? (Assuming the router supports using the 2.5Gb port as a WAN port.)
[Wireless Router] How to set 2.5G or 10G port as WAN type?

Thank you very much. I just assumed that I must use a Dual LAN to use 2.5Gbps. I am going to try this as soon as I can get my wife to give me some time to experiment. She plays too many games and watches too much TV.
