GT-AX11000 and slow download speed

heywire9

New Around Here
I have fiber and when I use the ISP supplied Zyxel ex7710 router, I would get 900ish up/down speed. If I use my GT-AX11000 with Merlin firmware I get around 650 to 700 download but upload is around 900. I do the speed test from within the router GUI. I have already tried disabling AI features, QOS, etc to no download speed increase. I even changed WAN port from the default 1GB to the 2.5GB port and it did not make any difference. Do I need to replace this router with maybe the GT-AX11000 Pro which has a faster CPU and 10GB WAN port?

No, you don't need to replace the router. The built-in speed test is known to be inaccurate depending on router's configuration and CPU load. Test with a PC wired to the router. Your router can do Gigabit up/down easily. If you withdraw the Trend Micro data sharing agreement (in Administration, Privacy/Policy tab) all Trend Micro dependent features will stop (reboot the router), the CPU will be unloaded and the built-in speed test will measure full speed. You'll lose most popular Asuswrt features for a speed test number though.

Thank you for the advice.
