GT-BE98 - All 2.4ghz channels drop.

New Around Here
Hi all

Was getting my 2.4ghz dropping all devices on both my WIFI and IOT WIFI. Both my main and IOT wifi would still have 5ghz devices connected but all 2.4ghz dropped.

I actually got a replacement from Amazon assuming I bought a dud, but with both firmware (latest) it is experiencing the exact same problem.

This is the below error:

Are the devices energy efficient and going to sleep ?
Could be unstable connection of client to AP radio.
I highly doubt it, I have just moved from an AX88U never had this issue. I have about 30 2.4ghz devices ranging from IP cameras to lights. None dropped on AX88U.

This issue is persistent with two BE98 (just replaced and same issue). I assume it's either a specific setting or firmware issue. I've set 2.4ghz to channel 6 see if I get a drop out. If issue persists I'll probably jump to TP Link

Have you been following the settings guidance for IOTs , basically turning off all the wifi7 "features", setting channel width to 20, etc ? Many threads in this subforum and Merlin subforum on issues and solutions.

I've set channel 6, disabled majority settings and the wifi 7 features on 2.4ghz (I've only done this just after the drop out so yet to see if it's fixed it). sorry could you please link me to the forums couldn't locate them. Would be greatly appreciated.

SmartConnect enabled? The IoTs function but then drop (all of a sudden)?
Smart connect is enabled by default, can't seem to disable it. It was an option on the original firmware and now it's disappeared. I even set 2.4ghz only for the IOT and it still all dropped.

You enable smart connect by creating a network with 2 or more channels here. (Mine shows 2.4 and 5 GHz Smart Connected).

Thanks the new firmware has removed or moved these options. Especially smart connect. Nowhere to be located
Via ssh, to disable
Code:
nvram set smart_connect_x=0
nvram commit
To enable
Code:
nvram set smart_connect_x=1
nvram commit
