Help: VPN/PPTP Client not auto connecting on reboot

Using:
asuswrt-merlin 374.42_2
RT-AC68R
VPN/PPTP Client

On reboot, the VPN/PPTP Client does not auto connect.
The "status" shows a spinning disc on the "VPN Status" tab under "PPTP/L2TP Clients"

I have to manually disconnect and then connect the VPN/PPTP Client.

does anyone know of a solution? Thank you in advance.
