How do you tell if router has been firmware hacked

I regularly update my router and when I first got it the check for update never worked. Instead I had to go to the ASUS site and manually get the update file.

However that seemed to have fixed itself 6 months ago when the router actually showed a warning that an update was available.

A couple of weeks ago I clicked check for update and the router was upgraded to 3.0.0.4.376_3754.

It all seems very hit and miss.

My question is that given the news about the ability for the router to get hacked via a firmware update, how do you tell if your router has been hacked and how do you avoid it.

Cheers

Baz

Don't use the auto update feature.

Just because auto-update doesn't work as it should doesn't mean you've been hacked. Like L&LD said, don't use auto update if you don't trust it
