how to clear nvram rt-ac66u

best way to clear nvram on merlin firmware?

should i just go to tools, run cmd, and type clear nvram then hit enter

then type reboot and hit enter?

or should i do the same thing and type mtd-erase -d nvram

?

I always I prefer to do it via ssh command line
 
ok well if i were to do via ssh which i have done before which command of the 2 should i use. also why not do it directly via merlins firmware

Also does the factory default restore go back to the firmware it shipped with? or just clear all the settings back to factory default. even on merlins firmware?
