I have monit installed through entware on the router, and I want to access it via my DDNS:2812, but it will not work. I already went to my port forwarding and said external 2812 internal 2812 to internal IP 192.168.1.1, but I suspect that this does not work for the router IP which is 192.168.1.1.

My question is, how do i open port 2812 to the router itself. I can open ports to lan computer no problem, my guess is port forwarding only applies to local connections?

Correct. You need to create a firewall-start script that inserts an iptables ACCEPT rule into the INPUT chain.
Thanks dude, using the temp "iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 2812 -j ACCEPT" worked, will look into the firewall-start to make it permanent
