I'm finishing due diligence to upgrade my N66U from Merlin 376.47 to either John's fork or the latest Merlin.

I came upon this post (https://www.snbforums.com/threads/merlin-update-firmware-wont-update-rtac68u.33543/#post-269921) that suggests that an upgrade to an intermediate version is necessary.

Can anybody comment or clarify? If an intermediate version is necessary, please confirm the version.

BTW, I've not had a lick of trouble with the router. Thanks, Merlin.

There's this:

"
  • The RT-AC68U and RT-AC56U need to be at least on firmware 378.55 (or the last 378.xxx version from Asus) before you can flash 380.xx, due to the partition size change."

It doesn't mention your router, the N66U, but I vaguely recall a post that included that model, too. I'll see if I can find it. I may well be wrong, though, not that an intermediate flashing would be detrimental.

The RT-N66U shouldn't require any intermediate build.
