New Around Here
Hi all,
I'm a newbe to NAS, looking for a safe and easy solution to backup my data and use media around my home. Key issues for me are off-site backup and power consumption.
I'm currently converging towards the iomega Home Media Network Drive, cloud edition. It looks like their concept of a personal cloud is exactly what i need: i can buy a second one (or convince a friend to do so) and backup all my data to another physical location.
If I consider this, it looks
- much cheaper than the online cloud services on the long term,
- very easy to set up and convenient to use (no manual backups needed anymore)
- very safe
- very low power consumption (between 8W and 20W for two HMND's).
Is this a correct analysis?
My second more practical question: would it be possible to 'initiate' the cloud by copying directly the content of the first NAS to the second before I put it in another location? If I have to upload all data through my internet connection it could take a very long time or be impossible?
Thanks a lot for your comments
