Is messed up text sizing on john's fork normal for ac66u?

just flashed johns fork from merlin 380.60
I didn't let it sit for an hour because the recovery mode flashed and rebooted in about 5 minutes.
I did a had reset afterwards and started setting everything up, but this is what's happening on all of the menus.

That can't be normal right?

Using Chrome? The recent update of Chrome introduced some changes. Workaround posted here:
