So I am posting this here because of this line in the syslog:

Nov 15 06:46:58 RT-AC3100-14D8 custom_script: Running /jffs/scripts/service-event (args: restart wan_if)
and:
Nov 15 06:47:01 RT-AC3100-14D8 custom_script: Running /jffs/scripts/service-event-end (args: restart wan_if)

But really I have enough of an idea of how this stuff works to set it up but not enough to troubleshoot.

The problem is that randomly my connection to the internet craps out. I have a fiber connection with new hardware service started in July. This recently (past two weeks) started happening. The first thing I did was to update everything, merlin firmware, entware, division, dnsproxy: everything I could find got an update. I want to say that lessened the frequency (perhaps 4-5 times a day to 1-2 times a day) but after looking at the logs a bit more I think this is anecdotal and that the updates didn't really solve any issues.

So here is a moment where it crapped out which having looked at a couple of these seems pretty predictable and repetative;

Everything fine at 6:07am for a speedtest
Then dnscrypt-proxy fails at 6:22am
Another fine speedtest at 6:38
6:46 - what? restart WAN?
6:47 dnscrypt fails again

then WAN goes up and down and up and down

but by 6:56 everything is okay again

It hasn't gone down since this morning .. all day long normal logs,, dnscrypt does fine..

but i probably could attach more logs

Anyway does anybody see anything here?

I guess my first instinct is to just go back to base Merlin and run that for a while.

Here is full syslog at pastebin:

Your router lost connection to the modem (or ONT). Check the modem log and replace the Ethernet cable between the modem and the router.

Thanks!

I don't think i can get into the ONT log.

This seems like a new issue in the past two weeks and there have been no hardware changes since the service was installed. I can change the ethernet though i was thinking of moving my router to a different room anyway!

If there's been no changes to your equipment my first suspicion would be that it's an ISP issue. Report it to your ISP as a fault.
