I've never relied on the Asus "intercept" since operating system and browser settings can interfere. First, your DNS has to be your router. Second, your browser must not be using secure DNS. Third, you must not have any DNS intercept/redirect configured on the router. Fourth, your browser/OS must not be doing anything else that could interfere with this rather crude setup they have.

I always just hit it with IP but if you want a hostname, just type in whatever the name of your router is.

For example if you named your router "router" just go in your browser and type http://router Even if you have a DNS suffix specified in the router GUI, it will tack that on automatically or you can add it yourself.

In my case all of these work (typing exactly the below)

10.0.0.1 (possibly 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.50.1 in your case) - browser knows to add http:// to beginning
http://router - browser knows to append your dns suffix if any
router.mydomain.net - browser knows to put http:// first

First - install the Asus router app on your phone and join one of the SSIDs the router is broadcasting. It usually finds the router no matter what.

Make sure the PC/Laptop you are using is set for DHCP for IP and DNS.
Otherwise, try http://IP address ; https://IP address:8443 using chrome or edge (Firefox may be picky about the certificate)

Don't recommend using the app if you don't have some specific pressing need for it.

Don't recommend using any phone 'app'. Particularly not one to control/configure your home router with.

Please explain why not to use a phone app to control/configure a home router.

Phone apps are developed by the lowest bidder in india and china and they've found many thousands of them with malicious code, even from reputable companies. Not to mention phones themselves may have malware (even if not in the Asus app) that could capture your passwords and other info for the asus router, or even inject code potentially.

Even all security aside, most phone apps are garbage and cause problems.

If there is a specific reason to use it like you want to enable and disable internet access on a regular basis, maybe it is worth using, you have to make that call yourself.

Thank you. I was not aware of that.

I had noticed that the phone app did not always make the changes in router settings that I thought I was making. When I would check the router settings later with my computer the changes had not been made; so I did stop using the app for changing settings. I have now deleted the app from my phone.

An 'app' on a phone is the most dangerous thing in the world. It has access to everything, even if you think it doesn't. Including banking, passwords, pictures, and video (i.e. your voice). And you want to trust it to control your network too. Good luck.

Set up, manage, and control your network from a trusted PC, that you have full control over. Doing so with an 'app' is the exact opposite of being secure (which is the main reason to buy and install your own router in your network in the first place).

Thank you, too. I have already begun to follow your advice.

I must have misunderstood the issue. It thought it was "where is my login page"; the phone app can find the router thats all..Im not promoting it as a daily administrative platform
