Lacie NAS and additional USB drive

bf1

New Around Here
I have a LaCie Ethernet Big Disk 1tb drive setup and it works great, It has a feature where you can plug in a USB hard drive to increase the capacity of the NAS. I have done this but its not working correctly, I can see the USB drive in windows explorer and via the NAS admin software but whenever I try to write to it I receive an error message saying I do not have access rights. I have tried re-formatting the usb drive and also removing the partition from the usb drive but no luck. I have looked online for help but not having much luck, anyone help with this?

Cheers

Brian

What format are you using on the USB drive? If it's NTFS, it is supported read-only. From the Big Disk user manual:

TECHNICAL NOTE: External hard disks must be formatted in one of the supported systems in to mount on the LaCie Big Disk Network: FAT32, NTFS, HFS+, EXT3, REISERFS or XFS.
In order to use an external hard drive to back up the Big Disk Network, the drive must be formatted in one of the file formats listed above, with the exception of NTFS. NTFS volumes cannot be used to back up the Big Disk Network because this file system format is read-only when connected to the Big Disk Network. External drives can be formatted to XFS through the Web administration page.
