So I recently was given a used 1U Server and figured I'd use link aggregation since it only has 6 1Gbe ports, but I'm getting a loopback error using 802.3ad. When my server is running no issues, but it seems it keeps an active 1Gbe connection when off to the ports. PXE is disabled as is network boot adapter, nothing in bios lets me specifically turn off the ports.
Unfortunately this loopback is preventing dhcp devices from associating. I figured Spanning Tree Protocol would help, but nope.
Nov 8 02:41:35 kernel: bond0: An illegal loopback occurred on adapter (eth3)
Nov 8 02:41:35 kernel: Check the configuration to verify that all adapters are connected to 802.3ad compliant switch ports
Nov 8 02:41:35 kernel: bond0: An illegal loopback occurred on adapter (eth4)
Nov 8 02:41:35 kernel: Check the configuration to verify that all adapters are connected to 802.3ad compliant switch ports
Bug? or any suggestions appreciated.
