Linksys announced two feature updates for its Velop and newly-renamed "App Enabled" (used-to-be "Smart Wi-Fi") routers.

Linksys' distributed Wi-Fi / mesh Velop can now be run in bridge mode to serve as access points behind another router. The new mode still supports dynamic band selection, guest network and Amazon Alexa features.

A Parental Controls scheduler has been added to the Linksys App that supports Velop, Max-Stream, WRT and EA series routers. The scheduler supports setting per-user nternet access time periods by hour and day.

New firmware will be automatically updated for those users who have opted in to automatic updates. Others can download and install manually.

Cool - no security fixes for the SmartWiFi security issues, yet - at least not with the WRT line...

Still too expensive. Eero reduced their price and I suspect when Asus releases their HiveStop Linksys will do the same.

Ah new features over fixing major security holes that exist right now. Looks like Linksys has their priorities in order right?
