Load balancing documentation?

Just wondering if anyone has seen a link to documentation describing the load balancing feature for dual wan and what to expect from it in greater detail than what is on the asus FAQ? I tried the asus support site/manual and could not find anything in the manual, also struck out on the asuswrt-merlin wiki.

While it says a few words like ' Load Balance mode to optimize bandwidth, maximize throughput, minimize response time, and prevent data overload for both WAN connections.' I was hoping for a story on how this works to limit my expectations.
